Login Procedure

Introduction

On accessing the e-Banking application, you must enter your user ID and password to view the menu options. Once logged, you can navigate directly to the menu of your choice. In case you do not have access to the selected menu, the application, by default, takes you to the home page.

Note:

  • In Finacle e-Banking the password fields are disabled for Copy and Paste functionality. So across the e-Banking application, copying or pasting of passwords is not possible in any the password fields.

  • Password fields are also disabled for auto completion feature.

The application validates various attributes of a customer during login.

  • The status of a user (whether a user is enabled or disabled for login)

  • Inactivity period of a user

  • Number of incorrect login attempts

  • Solution forces the users to change password at first login OR first login after the password is reset by the administrator

  • The terms and conditions page will be force displayed to the user at first login, in order to get user acceptance or rejection

Customer can login only within stipulated period once password is generated or re-generated by the bank administrator. This stipulated period is irrespective of password expiry date and configurable by the bank administrator.

Finacle e-Banking has the capabilities to integrate with “Arcot RiskFort” (Third party advanced authentication and fraud prevention system) to secure the user log in and authentication.

The user gets the message “Invalid logon credentials” in the following cases.

  • User attempts to log in but does not enter the user id

  • User attempts to log in but does not enter the credentials

  • User id doesn’t exist

The user gets the message “You cannot logon at this time. Please contact the bank for further information.” If the mode of authentication is disabled for the user.

If the user enters invalid credentials, where ‘n’ below is the maximum permissible number of attempts. ‘m’ is an indication of the number of times the attempt is being made

If the user enters successive invalid credentials from 1st to n-1 times, the system throws the message,

“You have made <m> unsuccessful attempts. The maximum retry attempts allowed for this access mode are <n>. If <n> is exceeded, then you will be disabled to use this access mode.”

If the user successively enters invalid credentials for the nth time, the system throws an error message “You have reached the maximum retry attempts <n> for this access mode. The usage of this access mode is being disabled. Please contact the bank for further information.” and disables the access mode.

If the user has been deleted, the system throws an error: “You cannot logon at this time. Please contact the bank for further information.”

If the user has been disabled, the system throws an error: “You cannot logon at this time. Please contact the bank for further information.”

E-Banking system can be configured (at a user-level) to display two modes of authentication.

When the user enters the correct user id and access code for the first level of authentication, the system displays a screen containing the additional authentication configured for the user. All the validations done at the first level is done for the additional level of authentication also.

Note:

  • When e-Banking users have access privileges to log in to e-Banking through multiple channels say (mobile phone), they can log in simultaneously from all the channels. Finacle e-Banking will not forcibly log them out from the application.

  • If the user updates any details from one of the channels, the same can be viewed through the other channels by re-login.

  • If the user is not enabled for login through multiple channels and he/she tries to login using multiple channels then an error message “Invalid login credentials” is displayed.
